The focus was on creating an environment that felt like a home away from home. Spacious single rooms with private ensuites provided comfort and privacy.
Courtyards with fruit trees encouraged interaction and family gatherings. The hostel uses a cultural and religious approach with traditional Greek meals, prepared on-site by Greek cooks, ensuring residents enjoy culturally specific foods fostering a sense of familiarity and comfort. The project extended beyond the physical environment. It incorporated a person-centered care approach, emphasizing regular, detailed communication among all involved in residents’ care, including the residents themselves. This holistic approach aimed to support residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
The refurbishment incorporated functional spaces for the dedicated team of nurses, care staff, and specialized clinicians, who offer a range of services, from physiotherapy to palliative care.The emphasis was on individualized care, ensuring each resident’s unique needs were met.
