Project Summary

Project summary

Ahsan Ashraf, serving as a Project Scheduler with Touch Projects, adeptly managed a comprehensive portfolio of Melbourne Water projects valued at over $1.4 billion. His role involves coordinating nine simultaneous infrastructure projects, including critical initiatives like the Yan Yean to Bald Hill Pipeline, Hobsons Bay Main Upgrade Project, and WTP 5W NRP Upgrade.

These projects address various water and sewer system enhancements, compliance requirements, and infrastructure upgrades. Ashraf’s meticulous planning, resource management, and timeline coordination plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of these projects, contributing to the improvement of Melbourne’s water infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

…what we did on this project

Ahsan Ashraf, as a Project Scheduler with Touch Projects, adeptly managed a multifaceted portfolio of projects for Melbourne Water. His role is integral in synchronising timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple simultaneous endeavors, ensuring they adhered to stringent schedules and budgets. His responsibilities extend across nine distinct projects, with a combined value exceeding $1.4 billion.

One noteworthy project, the Yan Yean to Bald Hill Pipeline, addresses the surging water demand in Greater Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs. This $108.7 million initiative involves the construction of a 20km pipeline, connecting the Yan Yean Water Treatment Plant to the Bald Hill tank site in Kalkallo. By bolstering water supply reliability and enabling greater water transfer capacity to the western suburbs, this project serves as a vital infrastructure upgrade.

The Hobsons Bay Main Upgrade Project, valued at $206.3 million, is equally significant. It centers on the rehabilitation of Melbourne’s critical Hobsons Bay Main Sewer, which conveys approximately 30% of the city’s wastewater to the Western Treatment Plant. The project necessitates the construction of a duplicate sewer, allowing for sewage flow diversion during rehabilitation and increasing system capacity to accommodate Melbourne’s expanding population.

Moreover, the WTP 5W NRP (Western Treatment Plant 5W Nitrogen Reduction Plant) Upgrade, a $333 million project, focuses on aligning Melbourne Water with Environmental Protection Authority Victoria (EPAV) ammonia effluent discharge license limits and nitrogen load targets. This compliance-driven initiative expands the plant’s capacity to manage higher influent flow and loads attributed to historical and future catchment growth.

In addition to these substantial projects, Ahsan Ashraf also played a vital role in overseeing multiple other projects encompassing water and sewer systems, renewable energy, pump station upgrades, and more. Each project required meticulous planning, resource coordination, and timeline management.

A Project Scheduler in this dynamic environment must possess a diverse skill set, including expert knowledge of project management software, an acute attention to detail, and exceptional communication abilities.
