The project includes a new regional tennis centre, including 18 International Tennis Federation (ITF) standard tennis courts and all associated infrastructure, a multi-sport pavilion including event spaces and kiosk, a new golf pro shop, improved car parking, traffic improvements and landscaping.
Touch Projects has been engaged to provide project management services for this development for all project phases from schematic, to design development and documentation, through to managing the construction tender and contract award, to acting as the Superintendent’s Representative for the construction period and closing out defects in the defects liability phase.
As well as 18 new tennis courts, the centre will include a new multi-sport pavilion, practice facilities for golf and upgrades to the car park and pedestrian paths.
Another key part of the project will be a new intersection at the corner of Waverley Road and Jells Road to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on these roads. This will bring significant improvements to local traffic conditions and address concerns expressed by local residents.
The new tennis centre will form part of a significant sporting hub, with the Glen Waverley Golf Course, Waverley Women’s Sports Centre Precinct (netball) and softball located nearby.
Touch Projects is currently managing this project through the design phase and liaising with Council, project partners, stakeholders and the local community. Construction commenced in mid 2022 and the new Monash Tennis Complex is expected to open in 2024.
The new tennis centre will form part of a significant sporting hub, with the Glen Waverley Golf Course, Waverley Women’s Sports Centre Precinct (netball) and softball located nearby.
It will replace the existing tennis centre in Boroondara, which is located on land needed for two crucial interchanges for the North East Link that will connect the M80 to an upgraded Eastern Freeway.
