Silvan Reservoir is a critical node in Melbourne’s water supply system, providing approximately 50% of Melbourne’s total potable water. Silvan is located at a point at which raw water from other protected catchments to the east is directed into the drinking water network to meet demands across the wider Melbourne Water storage.
In order to manage the inherent risk of microbial pathogens entering this waterway, a project ‘Silvan UV Disinfection’ has been developed to install a new UV disinfection plant at the Silvan Water Treatment Plant.
This project has been developed after going through the standard Melbourne Water approval gates. A contract delivery strategy has been developed to ensure the transition from the design, construction and operations stages is seamless, with minimal impacts to stakeholders, the environment and serviceability. It is intended that this UV plant be constructed via a D & C contract.
Touch Projects provided project management services to Melbourne Water, working closely with the service provider and key stakeholders. This involves managing the development of the (Preliminary Business Case (PBC), and the finalisation of this document for submission to the Melbourne Water Board.
