Project summary

Touch Projects Senior Project Manager, Ali Yekenkurul, lead the project management for the construction of the Sunshine Skills Hub, a state-of-the-art facility that prepares individuals for the unpredictable future of work. 

The Skills Hub focuses on developing much-needed skills for the future of work, including creative thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and specialist technical skills in emerging fields including a world-class nursing simulation lab and specialist health teaching spaces that replicate real-world environments.

The Skills Hub fosters entrepreneurial thinking and connects a diverse group of key players from industry, education, and the community who collaboratively come together to solve real industry challenges. 

The level-one innovation space provides creators with access to state-of-the-art facilities and modern technology that support entrepreneurial thinking, ideation, and prototyping as they relate to solving industry problems. 

The technology within the hub includes the latest in robotics, 3D printing, drones, and industry-standard software. 

VU’s practical, hands-on approach to training responds directly to industry requirements, with courses created with key partners, including hospitals, disability services, and a wide range of community organizations. 

This collaborative effort was directed into the level two space, featuring a world-class nursing simulation lab and specialist teaching spaces that replicate real-world environments, ensuring students learn the latest technology and trends in the industry. 

Level three was designed to replicate best practice in the delivery of early childhood and paramedical education, featuring simulated working environments that emulate the workplace. The strong emphasis on real-world learning ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to transition smoothly between training, placement, and future careers. 

The Sunshine Skills Hub is a place where individuals can develop the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the fast-paced and ever-changing world of work.
