Bob Bocevski, as Delivery Manager, successfully managed the Thompson Road West project in Cranbourne/Lynbrook, focusing on technical expertise and effective project governance. With a project value of $1.7 million, Bob was responsible for the development and design of safety measures to enhance road safety. The project involved the installation of flexible “W” beam safety barriers on the left side of the roadway, wire rope safety barriers on the centre median, and cushion Raptors around power poles. The challenging build was characterized by a built-up area with shopping precincts, residents, heavy traffic congestion, multiple intersections, and underground services such as gas mains, Telstra, and water mains. 

Bob’s role encompassed site assessment, analysis, and risk assessment to ensure the safe delivery of the project. Through diligent project governance, he effectively managed the complexities associated with the project’s location. The installation of safety barriers required careful coordination and consideration of existing infrastructure and underground services. Bob’s expertise in risk management played a crucial role in mitigating potential disruptions and ensuring the safety of workers and the public throughout the construction process. 

Additionally, as the Delivery Manager, Bob facilitated the handover of the completed asset back to the Department of Transport’s Region. This involved thorough inspection and quality assurance processes to ensure that all safety measures were installed according to specifications and met the required standards. 

The successful completion of the Thompson Road West project under Bob’s leadership has significantly improved road safety in the Cranbourne/Lynbrook area. The installation of flexible “W” beam safety barriers, wire rope safety barriers, and cushion Raptors provides enhanced protection for motorists and pedestrians. The project’s technical complexities were effectively managed, and the project was delivered within the allocated budget and timeframe.
