Engaging with Wannon Water and the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation, the project aimed to install two 10-kilometer water lines and tap-in points from the Twelve Apostles Visitors Centre to Port Campbell.
Compliance with environmental protection regulations and indigenous engagement were key considerations. Nick also developed comprehensive cost plans for funding requirements. Tap-in points were also included along the route.
Nick engaged with Wannon Water, the agency responsible for the physical works, to develop a construction methodology that considered the sensitive environment surrounding the Twelve Apostles. This methodology ensured that the installation of the water lines was carried out in a manner that minimized any negative impact on the natural surroundings.
Compliance with environmental protection regulations was a top priority throughout the project. Nick and his team obtained all the necessary approvals, including local and state permits, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, they engaged with the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC), the traditional owners of the land, and obtained EMAC’s approval for the project, fostering indigenous engagement and cultural preservation.
Cost planning was a crucial aspect of Nick’ role as the Project Manager. He developed comprehensive cost plans for the project, providing Parks Victoria and the state government with a clear understanding of the funding requirements. This allowed for effective financial planning and decision-making throughout the project.
