Glen Waverley Sports Hub
Touch Projects was engaged to provide project management services for this development for all project phases from schematic to design development and documentation, construction tender and award, acting as the Superintendent’s representative during construction and closing out the project in the defect liability phase.
As well as 18 new ITF standard artificial grass tennis courts including two show courts, the project also encompassed a multi-sport pavilion, practise facilities for golf, and upgrades to the car park and pedestrian access pathways.
Another key aspect of the project was the new intersection at the corner of Waverley Road and Jells Road, delivered in order to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on these roads. This has created significant improvements to local traffic conditions and addressed concerns expressed by local residents.
The new centre forms part of the Glen Waverley Sports Hub, which also comprises the Glen Waverley Golf Course and Waverley Women’s Sports Centre precinct. The Touch Projects team managed the project through the full design and construction lifecycle, regularly maintaining communication and engagement with Monash Council, project partners, stakeholders and the local community.
The new Monash Tennis Centre replaced the existing tennis centre in Boroondara, located on land required for two crucial interchanges for the North East Link that will connect the M80 to an upgraded Eastern Freeway.
