Mount Waverley Reserve

Financed by multiple funding grants, the project budget included contributions from the Australian Government ($7 million), Victorian Government ($2 million), City of Monash ($2.2 million), and $100,000 each from the tenant clubs (Waverley Blues Football Netball Club and Mount Waverley Cricket Club), AFL Victoria and Cricket Victoria. 

Our role encompassed project management services during design and delivery phases for both stages of the project. Each stage addressed specific elements of the redevelopment. Stage 1 comprised preliminary planning and design for upgrades to the oval, sports lighting, and the main pavilion. Stage 2 included design only for components including the cricket net relocation, community activity hub, destination play space, tennis club relocation, community plaza and car parking.

Compliance with environmental protection regulations was a key consideration for this project. The overall goal was to enhance the reserve while minimising any adverse environmental impacts. Measures such as sustainable design, water management, and landscaping were incorporated into the design process in order to preserve and enhance the surrounding natural environment.

The project required close collaboration with the Project Control Group and other consultants appointed by Council. Community engagement was another critical aspect. The project team actively sought to involve local community in decision making, seeking input and feedback to ensure that the redevelopment would meet the needs and desires of the community. Through open communication and collaboration, the project has created a vibrant and inclusive space that fosters community connection and recreational opportunities. 

Touch Projects was responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the project, whilst ensuring compliance with regulations, effective stakeholder management, and the successful delivery the project to schedule and budget.
