Waverley & Jells Roads Intersection

Led by Touch Projects, the intersection upgrade at Waverley and Jells Roads is a crucial component of the new tennis centre and multisport pavilion project within the Glen Waverley Sports Hub. The works, conducted in collaboration with North East Link and the Department of Transport, aimed to enhance traffic safety and accommodate the increased traffic flow resulting from the sports hub.

With a focus on technical aspects such as traffic signals, civil and asphalt works, the upgrade ensured the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians. This benefits the community via improved accessibility.

The project involved various technical aspects, including the installation and commissioning of traffic signals, civil works such as road and pedestrian pavement modifications, asphalt works, line marking and signage, as well as tree removal and minor landscape works. These measures were essential to ensure the safe movement and efficient operation of vehicles and pedestrians in the area, particularly during peak periods.

Throughout the construction period, traffic and pedestrian management strategies were implemented to minimise disruptions and maintain safety. Signed construction zone speed limits were enforced, urging drivers to exercise caution and reduce speed when passing the works area. The project team was dedicated to implementing effective traffic control measures to safeguard the community and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

This intersection upgrade not only served the immediate needs of the Glen Waverley Sports Hub, but also the broader community. By improving traffic flow and enhancing safety measures, the project supported the accessibility and functionality of the sports hub, creating a conducive environment for athletes, visitors and residents alike. The upgraded intersection enables the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, enhancing connectivity and facilitating increased participation in sports and recreational activities within the Glen Waverley area.

The collaboration between the project team, the North East Link project and the Department of Transport was a coordinated effort to successfully deliver infrastructure that aligned with the overall vision of the Monash Sports Hub. Through meticulous planning, technical expertise and community-focused design, the upgrade continues to contributes to a vibrant sports and recreational precinct that will benefit the local community for years to come.
